I want to thank all of you who have followed me on my blogging journey over the last six months. It seems like just yesterday that I hit the “publish” button and posted my very first blog article. Happy Chic Mom started as an inspiration that I serendipitously acted upon. At the time, I was on a quest to find a new hobby that would provide me with a creative outlet outside of my work as a practicing orthodontist. As a mom of two young kids, it felt natural to write about the everyday things that were meaningful to me: parenting, style & beauty, decor, cooking, shopping, and helpful hacks that make life easier. My hope is that this blog will provide you with inspiration, useful information, or just a little dose of encouragement to help you live your best life.
It means a lot to me that so many of you have shared this little blog with your friends, families, and mama groups on Facebook. The nice feedback encourages me to continue writing relevant content week after week. After some reflection, I have determined that I can realistically write one piece per week without sacrificing too much personal time or the quality of content. Happy Chic Mom will continue to be a hobby for me as I have no intentions of becoming a full-time blogger. I enjoy my career and I also want to spend as much precious time as possible with my family.
As I look back at the evolution of the blog over the last six months, I decided that I would share a few of my favorite posts. Of the 51 articles, the article with the most number of views, “Motherhood question: Is it really this hard,” was featured on ABC News.
Just a few days ago, Shutterfly featured a picture of my bedroom from “Tips on a bedroom makeover” on their website. The piece is a set of 80 decor ideas on how to decorate a bedroom and includes curated photos from interior designers. For an amateur wanna-be decorator like me, it was quite an honor.
It was hard to pick, but here are three posts that are some of my personal favorites:
